Music for Good Friday – Friday 2 April 2010
March 30, 2010 by Rob Westwood-Payne
Filed under News, Random Jottings, worship meetings
On Good Friday, the Church commemorated the very special, if sad, event of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross: the moment the barrier of sin between man and God was broken for good.
In both meetings, the Cradley Heath Salvation Army Songsters will sing, for the first time, the song, The Christ of Calvary.
The arrangement of this song by Norman Bearcroft was originally written for the International Staff Songsters of The Salvation Army. The melody was first attributed to Alicia Scott in 1834.
I could not live without him,
His love is life to me;
My blood-bought life I give him,
The Christ of Calvary.The Christ of Calvary,
The dearest name to me
Is the matchless name of Jesus,
The Christ of Calvary.
Why not join us for our meetings this Good Friday at 10:30am and 6:00pm at The Salvation Army, Meredith Street, Cradley Heath B64 5EP?
